Fisherman Canada arrived at Agnew Lake Lodge on the afternoon of Monday, June 06 , 2010. We immediately noticed how nicely situated Agnew lake Lodge was. It’s very spacious with breathtaking views of Lake Agnew. We proceeded into the main Lodge and were warmly greeted by Yoni, the Lodges owner. Yoni, his wife and two son s have owned the Lodge for nine years and are very approachable. Agnew Lake Lodge is quite big with lots of area for their quests to enjoy. There are fifteen cabins at Agnew Lake Lodge with several of the Cabins right on the lake front. The lodge has a small store and also has live bait for the fisher’s. They also serve meals, but you must inform them prior to when you want the meal. Lake Agnew is 22 miles in size and offers some great scenery and fishing. Fisherman Canada had the opportunity of speaking to several other quests during our visit. In fact, some of the quests have been coming to Agnew Lake Lodge for 30 plus years and simply love it there.
Fisherman Canada’s cabin was very spacious, clean and well equipped. The cabin had three bedrooms each with two beds. The washroom was equipped with a shower which is a nice touch for a cabin. The dining room table is nicely sized and the Kitchen has all the amenities needed. The cabin also had a Wood Stove situated in the corner. The deck is nicely sized with a large picnic table and a propane barbeque. The deck is newly built; in fact most Cabins have new decks. All cabins have a fire pit. The view of Lake Agnew from the deck is spectacular and very relaxing. Fisherman Canada was very happy with their accommodations and would recommend Agnew Lake Lodge as a great place to get away from it all.
Agnew Lake Lodge is geared more towards Fishers and Hunters who are looking for a great place to get the fullest out of their sport. They have more than enough boat rentals to accommodate all your fishing needs. The boats are 14’ and 16’ aluminum Naden boats with Yamaha 15HP four stroke motors. All boats are in excellent shape and come with all the required safety equipment. The boats are more than adequate to ensure a good days fishing. They also have a boat launch for those who bring thei r own boats. Agnew lake Lodge has 20+ lookout towers for Bear and Moose hunters. They are strategically placed around Lake Agnew to ensure some great Bear and Moose hunting. Lake Agnew is the end point for canoe trips on the Spanish River. They provide canoe shuttles with different drop off points. Agnew Lake Lodge also caters to the winter enthusiasts with cross country skiing, snowmobiling and access to the other lakes for ice fishing.
Fisherman Canada was treated to a meal at the main Lodge. The meal was excellent and well spread out. The meal consisted of soup with crackers, Caesar salad, Strip loin steak with roasted potatoes and asparagus, a side plate of sliced tomatoes with cheese and topped off with a large portion of Apple Turnover with ice cream. All of us thoroughly enjoyed the meal and greatly appreciated it. The main Lodge is a great place to meet and plan your next day’s activities or just relax and enjoy the view of Lake Agnew.
The fishing was average for this time of year. One of Fisherman Canada’s fishers caught a few small perch and pickerel, but all were released as Fisherman Canada promotes and believes in catch and release. Lake Agnew is 22 miles long so there is lots of lake to fish. To fish Lake Agnew thoroughly you would need several days . However we only fished one night and the next day as weather was setting in. So bear that in mind if you want to fish all that Lake Agnew has to offer.
Fisherman Canada would recommend Agnew Lake Lodge as a great getaway from everyday life. The grounds are big and the owners are great people whom want heir quests to enjoy their stay. The fishing possibilities are endless with the size of Lake Agnew. Bear and Moose hunters will truly enjoy the hunt at Agnew Lake Lodge. From fishing to snowmobiling, Agnew Lake Lodge has a lot to offer.
